Care Package

Robin and I pedalled to a house on a lake near Kenora, ON, where a friend of hers was renting a room, but was away for a few weeks. I rested there a bit and made use of the WiFi, electricity, and water both hot and cold. Robin and I decided that this is where we would part ways, and at 4pm I left to continue to Kenora and onwards.

In Kenora I visited Lake of the Woods Brewing Company. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was delicious. After I ate the fries that came with it, the server informed me that "the fries are bottomless", and brought me some more. Had I known this to start, I would have prioritized fry-eating. Still, I ate the additional fries and was brought even more. Also, Lake of the Woods brews some of the best beer in western Ontario.

I left the brewery around 7pm and pedaled West on Hwy17 to find a place to camp. While pedaling, I decided I'd leave a care package for Robin, in a conspicuous spot, to the found the next day. I did so at the top of one of the few hills on the route, just past Clearwater Bay, in a small cave in blasted-out rock. It consisted of the remainder of a bottle of Aleve, a can of Lake of the Woods Czech-Style Pilsner, and a black rubber bracelet with the phrase 'harden the fuck up' inscribed on it. I duct-taped a note on the rock above the cave, and wrote ROBIN in block letters on it.

I camped on a turnout near Rush Bay Rd., 15km East of the Manitoba border.
