Niagara Escarpment
I hung out in Owen's Sound until 11am waiting for a bike shop to open. After finishing he 95km rail trail yesterday, I noticed a wobble in my wheel while going down a big hill, and upon inspection found it was quite far out of true. I'm not carrying a spoke wrench, so I hoped this bike shop could remedy it.
I rolled my bicycle into the shop and they noticed I was travelling and decided to help me right away! The owner trued my wheel, explained how, and sold me a spoke wrench that I can hopefully use to make adjustments in the future.
The ride from Owen's Sound to Bruce Peninsula National Park was some of the best riding I've done yet. I took smaller roads along the shore. The shore of Georgian Bay in Lake Huron is all short ledges (part of the Niagara Escarpment) which continue into the lake. It is very cool to wade around and dive and explore them. I continued from County Road 1 to County Road 9 to Forty Hills Road, a dirt road whose name gave me some pause but was very fun. My pedalling also felt great for the whole 110km.
I arrived at Bruce Peninsula National Park Campground around 8pm. There was a sign saying the office was closed, and that those without reservations could select any empty campsite and then check-in by 9:30am the next morning. I will be sure to do so first thing in the morning...
