"I pedal fastest when I'm a little tipsy and I'm following Tim Sullivan"
After leaving Tony's place in Newport VT, I had an excellent ride following the Missisquoi River. 20km or so was in Quebec, and the rest in Vermont. From the QC border to Enosburg Falls, I followed a nice rail trail, although as I was approaching Enosburg the skies got quote dark, so I hopped on the main road and pedalled fast to a cafe.
After the cafe, it was still thunderstorming, so I went to a bar across the street. They had pints of Fiddlehead for $4! Incredible. Service was kinda unfriendly.
After pedalling over Evans Notch on the 4th day of my trip I had some pain/inflamation in whateve connects my tibia to my knee. I had tried taking Aleve and Tylenol, but the didn't do much. H owever, pedalling today after 2 pints of beer I felt no pain at all. Ethanol is a great analgesic.
I had been planning to camp in a wildlife sanctury on the north shore of Lake Champlain, but the entire thing was swamp! Must be a sanctuary for frogs or something
So I continued pedalling and found a trail off the side of the road which looked promising for camping. I set up my tent and put all my bags in it, but then when I walked a bit away to pee I found a trap with 3 marshallows in it labelled CAUTION RABIES VECTOR. THen I walked back to the trailhead and saw a sign saying the area was closed due to rabies control.
Even though it was nearly 10pm I repacked my bicycle and continued down the road. I ended up sleeping behind a small library, since I Was feeling a little desparate. The library had free wifi though, which was a nice bonus at the end of a long day!
